A longtime expat, I lived and worked in Asia for fifteen years.  

Where does evil come from?  Is it something within each of us that can suddenly surface or does it come from somewhere else...?

In my short story, The Exchange, I offer one possible answer to this question.

A long line of Thai monks, having safeguarded a hidden object in their monastery for over one thousand years are finally allowed to have its true nature and powers revealed to them.

What follows is an exchange. Agreed too long ago, it tasks the monks to select the one person who will act as the next 'advisor'  to keep humanity on the middle path and insure its survival...
